The latest completely new device from Apple was wireless headphones AirPods, released in 2016. Since then, the company has only been updating the existing product categories, but according to the statement of a reputable insider and analyst Ming Chi Kuo, this year “apple” range will be supplemented by the tracker AirTags, rumors about which have appeared long time ago.

According to the insider, release of AirTags is scheduled for the second or third quarter of this year. He is confident that by the end of 2020 Apple intends to establish production of tens of millions of devices. The main manufacturer is called Universal Scientific Industrial, which will produce about 60% of gadgets. The analyst also suggests that the trackers will use Apple U1 chip, which first appeared in last year’s iPhone 11.

It is assumed that AirTags – are small trackers that users can attach to their things, such as keys or bags to track their location. Once close to the tracker, owners of an iPhone with the U1 chip will be able to track it through the camera using augmented reality.
It’s not yet clear when Apple will introduce AirTags. This could happen on March 31, when the iPhone 9 is expected to be shown on WWDC 2020 with iOS 14 or in September with the new iPhone.
