According to the top manager, Xiaomi plans to establish several fully automated factories to manufacture its products.
Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has announced that the manufacturer completed building of an advanced smartphone assembly factory in Yizhuang, China. Moreover, the company, according to the top manager, plans to create several fully automated factories to make its products.
Separate division of Xiaomi, which designs and builds new factories, was established two years ago, and the new factory, “which has a very high level of automation”, is ready for launch, but due to the explosion of coronavirus, start of trial production has been postponed.
The epidemiological situation is slowing down the process, but our pilot project is very automated. The first phase of the production line in Yizhouan is completed and we are building a fully automated next-generation factory.
According to the sources that are close to Xiaomi’s production issues, the new factory uses automated production lines, big data analysis systems, and 5G network, which will greatly increase production effectiveness. Meanwhile, the factory will be able to collect up to 60 smartphones per minute, which is 60 percent more than on traditional lines.Lei Jun does not yet specify the date of full commercial launch of the new plant.
