Samsung reported about the new flagship processor, production of which may start this year – Exynos 990. New product is about 20% faster than usual calculations and graphics processing, and the performance of the neuroprocessor has doubled.

The system-on-chip consists of two custom cores developed by Samsung Exynos M5, two ARM Cortex-A76 and four energy efficient Cortex-A55s. The display controller supports 120 hertz refresh rate, and the image processing module supports up to six cameras, and the signal from three of them can be processed simultaneously.

According to Jeff Arnold of Samsung’s processor division, the Exynos 990 will be more economical than its predecessors. Including thanks to the 7-nanometer technical process, as in the received Galaxy Note10 and 10+ Exynos 9825. Exynos 990, obviously, is planned to be used in the flagship smartphones of 2020 – except for those countries like the U.S. or China, where Samsung traditionally sells flagships with Qualcomm chips.
Simultaneously with Exynos 990 (in an amazing way the numerical designation of the model coincides with the Kirin 990, produced by Huawei) Samsung announced a new 5G-modem – Exynos Modem 5123. That is, the version of the system-on-chip with integrated support for 5G networks, apparently, is not supposed to release yet.
