SpaceX Company is steadily moving closer to realizing one of the goals of its development – organization of space tourism. An important step in this direction was conclusion of the partnership agreement with the Space Adventures company, which has already had real experience in the space tourism market.
Sending the first space travelers to Earth’s orbit contributes to the latest achievements SpaceX, which conducted a pilotless flight to the International Space Station in March of last year and successfully tested the launch and security systems. Company’s plans for the first phase includes sending the first four space tourists into orbit in a fully automated Crew Dragon spacecraft using the Falcon 9 launcher.
SpaceX management expressed the opinion that one of the main missions of the company will be the development of space tourism and providing opportunity to travel in space for anyone who wants. Access to space can be restricted only by the health, finances and own desire of an earthman.
Space Adventures is a pioneer in the space tourism industry, having sent eight tourist missions to the International Space Station between 2001 and 2009. Space Adventures space travelers have already travelled 58 million kilometres in space. Further promotion of space tourism would not have been possible without reusable Crew Dragon and Falcon 9.
Space Adventures company is based in Washington, DC. Its services includes lunar orbits flights, flights to the International Space Station and other projects. The soonest flight of the travelers into space is scheduled for early 2022. The trip will take five days and will start from Cape Canaveral in Florida. At present time, price of a SpaceX voyage has not yet been released. First voyages conducted with the help of Space Adventures has cost tourists $35 million.
