Obviously, in the near future, human drivers will be replaced by autonomous driving systems with artificial intelligence. A good example is the AXL UAV truck from the Swedish company Scania.
The company has developed several autonomous trucks that are already in active use. However, so far they have been controlled by the drivers. Complete elimination of the cab as an unnecessary element will be the next step, as AXL is controlled only by an external logistics system, which tells it the algorithm of actions.

Cabin-less modification significantly changes the design of the truck. Obviously, it will become cheaper. At the moment, the AXL is a conceptual model, although Scania says that it did not use any previously unknown technologies to create it. The dump truck engine runs on biofuels and is controlled by radars, cameras, laser beams, GPS, radar and an on-board computer that allows it to navigate in an environment.

The developers explain that the AXL is designed exclusively for the mining industry and closed construction works, where the actions of autonomous trucks are easier to predict and control. The massive introduction of such autonomous systems is only a matter of time.
