Currently, not much is known about the PlayStation 5 console, but some information still periodically comes up – even if it is not from Sony, but from insiders. More recently, for example, in the network leaked fresh data on possible technical characteristics of the console. And like an intakes, the head of the studio LKA, right now creating the game for PS5, said that the console can significantly improve the visual component of some games. New algorithm of upscaling will help in this.
According to Luca Dalko, head of LKA, it’s all about the available density of texels – an alternative to pixels for 3D models. The developer says that the PlayStation of the new generation will support up to 4096 pixels per meter, that is, even when zooming in low resolution models will not be blurred.
“This is one of the key and expected improvements for the visual component of games. We worked hard to get the highest resolutions on PlayStation 4. But now PlayStation 5 will let us work with an incredible density of texels – up to 4096 pixels per meter. This means that all objects will be fully detailed even at high resolutions,” said the developer.
In an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine Dalko also added that now his studio will really be able to express his vision to fans through photorealism – all thanks to the “incredible” technical capabilities of PS5. He only pointed to the increased power of the console and support for ray tracing, other details the game-designer, unfortunately, not disclosed.
Recall that the company Sony announced the console PlayStation 5 in the fall of 2019, but has not yet officially presented the console. According to one data, gaming system will be weaker than its main competitor in the face of Xbox Series X, in other – more powerful. As it turns out, it’s hard to say now. We only have to wait for official information from Sony.
