The most advanced model in the new product line of Samsung smartphones is Galaxy S20 Ultra. It received the highest possible performance. Let’s talk about this device in detail.
Design and styling.
Galaxy S20 Ultra is hardly to say that is a compact product. When weighing 220 grams, it has the following parameters: 166.9x76x8.8 mm. However, the device does not seem large and heavy. It immediately wants to give the status of a balanced device, which lies comfortably in your hand.
The body of the smartphone is made of glass, and the frame is made of metal. Despite the oleophobic coverage, it collects fingerprints quite well. It’s not hard to wipe them off later, but it does.
Designers of the Korean manufacturer took into account all the latest trends during development of this device. It has thin frames and a curved screen at the edges.
Like all other models in the family, the Galaxy S20 Ultra has a front camera at the top of the front panel. On the back side, in the left corner, there is a slightly sticking out main camera unit.
On the right side, there is a power button and swing volume. Some users will have to get used to it, as this was not common in previous versions of the S-Series.
The unit has no 3.5 mm jack for audio devices. The necessity for this connector is gradually being eliminated, but it is not yet clear how music lovers will feel about it.
Samsung is proud of its screens. The 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED sensor of the S20 Ultra display with a pixel density of 511 ppi is no exception. Its usable area is almost 100%.
The screen is traditionally juicy and vividly reflects any picture. Its resolution can be adjusted to your preference by setting from HD+ to Quad HD+. Not every user will be able to catch the difference in quality compared to the previous generation of the product line.
Only one parameter is immediately noticeable. This high smoothness. This is achieved by applying a high screen refresh rate of 120 Hz. That’s why many people will experience the pleasure of scrolling through the pages of lists and desktop pages. It is important to note, however, that this is only possible with Full HD+ working resolution set.
Almost certainly mobile gamers will be interested in another feature of a smartphone – refresh rate of the screen touch layer. In this case it is equal to 240 Hz. This allows for a quick touch response, which is required during the gameplay.
The display also has a built-in fingerprint scanner. The user can also use the face unlock functionality.
Hardware and performance
The basis of Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra hardware is an eight-core processor Samsung Exynos 9 Octa 990 ( frequency 2.7 GHz) with 12/16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and Mali-G77 MP11 graphics accelerator. The integrated UFS 3.0 drive is 128 GB. It can be expanded to 1 TB by using MicroSD cards.
7-nanometer chipset, developed by Korean engineers, is designed according to the latest technological research. It is practically in no way worse than its analogue from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 865. The chipset scored 503109 points in AnTuTu benchmark tests. This is a high score, allowing to say that all advanced games and applications will be able to new product.
As an operating system in the model is used Android 10 with the branded shell One UI 2.0.
Capabilities of cameras
Another advantage of the device is its photographic capability. The main rear camera sensor here has a resolution of 108(!) Mp. To change the order of RGB points, it has received technology Re-mosaic, which allows to improve the display of details.
The second highest resolution is the 48-megapixel telephoto lens. It is equipped with an OIS and can switch to 12 megapixel mode, to increase the pixel size from 0.8 to 1.6 μm.
The third 12 megapixel sensor is an ultra wide angle sensor. It has 10x optical and 100x digital zoom.
The fourth lens is a depth sensor. It allows more accurate blurring of the background in portrait mode.
If you shoot the same frame on all three lenses separately, the artificial intelligence will choose the best one and recommend it to the user.
The Selfie camera has a resolution of 40 megapixels. It supports Tetra Binning, which is also needed to combine several pixels into one. Therefore, the quality of images in low light is practically does not decline.
Korean developers have added a number of new features to the cameras, but you can only talk about their work after thorough tests.
Galaxy S20 Ultra is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. This is almost a record performance for devices of this class. It supports fast 45W charging and 15W wireless charging. It takes 80 minutes to fully recharge from 0 to 100%.
If we analyse all the above, we can confidently say that the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is the most advanced smartphone on the market in its class. Especially good its photo capabilities and display. The performance is also at a high level.
To get the full picture, it is better to wait for the first reasonable feedback from users.
